Natural Styling!

Now mom can’t take credit for this, but we can show you the results.

After mom visited CurlyNikki’s blog, she decided to try styling my hair as she did on her post.  First we washed our hair with Organic Castile soap infused with essential oils.  Then, instead of using the products that CurlyNikki used, we used, Organic Coconut Oil, Aloe and Mango butter.  Mom twisted our hair and rolled the ends (I actually skipped the rollers because I wouldn’t have been able to sleep with them)  as she did, and here are the results.

Soap-a-licious soap making (Gi making soap)

I just love helping mom make things.  Today, we’re making Gigi’s Delights Soap-a-licious (supper-licious) soap pops.  I love them because they look and smell just like real lollipops and ice cream pops.  That’s me adding the color and fragrance (that’s the safer part of the soap making that mom lets do, she does the other stuff) to the Butterscotch Soapy-pop.  We have a few soapy-pops and soapsicles that we make, like Jolli Green Apple, fudgesicle…….(find them and more on our site @ http://www.theessenceofu.com/catalog/Gigi_s_Delights-8-1.html

Intro

Hi,

Welcome to my journal, written/typed by my mom, but with input by me, Gigi

I’m learning to type, but my mom can do it faster.

Mom thought it would be a good idea to do this journal online to show girls that they can have fun, get inspired and take care of themselves and still be a kid.

One of the ways that mom has taught me to take care of myself is to take good care of my skin.  She calls it pampering my skin.

Mom says I have had eczema since I was 3 months old.  She said it covered my whole body.  I have it really bad at time, and when I was younger, it was really, really bad.  She said that my skin was so bad that it looked like leather, and it itched all that time.  She said that I would even scratch in my sleep.  Mom said doctors would tell her to use strong medicine creams on my skin to make it better, but it would only work for a little while, then come back again.  Mom said that the medicine creams were not really good for my skin because if I used it to much, it would make other problems happen to my skin.  Mom said that her and dad would get so upset trying to find the right thing to use for me, that she decided to try and make some creams herself.

Mom said she started to use Shea Butter for a cream because everyone told her that it worked so well on skin with eczema, but nope, not my skin.  Mom realized that I was allergic to Shea Butter and it would made my skin worse (I also have a few allergies and asthma, but that’s a different story).  So mom started to look into other natural stuff (ingredients) to use for my skin until she found something that started to work for me.

I still get itchy especially when it is very hot and dry out or after getting out of the pool (mom and dad just brought a house and we have a pool, also in the summer, I was in camp and we went swimming), but my skin is much better when I have my cream on.

The things I like about my skin:

  1. I get to be really girly and get pamper with creams and lotions (perfumes and sprays).
  2. Mom and grammie puts cream all over me to make me feel special (but I’m getting older now and am doing this myself now, even though I miss some spots).
  3. I like when my mom puts cream on my back before bed, it relaxes me and puts me to sleep.
  4. Mom makes me special creams and lotions that feel better than that stuff from the store.  Because of this, mom was able to start her company that sell Body  Indulgence skin care products and now Gigi’s Delights, a group of skin care products for girls.  (It’s named after me.)

So, stay tuned to my journal to see all the fun stuff I’ll be talking about and the things that will be happening at Gig’s Delights

The party's over

I really had fun this summer.  Mom and dad sent me to camp for the whole summer.  It was a day camp and I went to it last year, so I couldn’t wait to go this year.  This year was different.  This year, I got to be with the older kids group at Camp Voyages.  I got to go on all these great trips everyday and attend classes too!  I did Karate, Arts & Crafts, Science projects and more.  We went to Dorney Park almost every week and to pools, beaches, museums (like the Mutter Museum in Philly which was creepy) and other amusement parks.  Each day when mom picked me up, I was so tired, but I couldn’t wait to go back the next day.  Finally, camp came to an end, which meant that summer was over and school was about to begin.  It was so sad to leave camp and all my new friends, but I did get to spend the last 2 weeks at home with mom lounging in the pool.

Boy, it was a good summer!  What did you do for the summer?
